Gurduwara Sri Sacha Sauda; A gem in Punjab
Gurduwara Sacha Sauda located in (now) Tehsil Faruqabad than (Chuhar Kana) of famous district Shiekhupura, 80 km away from Lahore and 40 km away from Nankana Sahib. This area is also Known as “Sandalbad”. Shiekhupura was the the part of Gujranwala before World War 1.This sacred place is belonged to an incident of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s life. The special thing about this Gurduwara was that, Guru Nanak (The Founder of Sikh Religion) started the tradition of “Langar” from here very first time. The followers of Sikh religion follow the custom of Langar started by Baba Guru Nanak until date. Langar is for all kind of men and women’s.

The story behind the name of this Gurduwara is much interesting. When Gura Nanak G was a young boy, his father Kalyan Das sent Guru Nanak G to the City, the father gave him 20 rupee to start any kind of business; 20 rupee was a great amount on that time. Guru Nanak went to City, than “Choorh Kana” now “Faruqabad” with his brother. At city, they met with saint of Allah and they all were hungry, starving, thirsty and sick. Guru Nanak spent all his money for their wellbeing and said there is no other right purpose of this money, and no bargain can be true instead of this. In Punjabi “Sacha Sauda” means “True Bargain”. That’s why this Gurduwara is known as “Gurduwara Sacha Sauda”.

Many years later, in the era of Sikh rise, Sikh built Gurduwara on this place in the memory of Guru Nanak so that the people can remember the warmth and goodness of Guru Nanak. The Gurduwara has a grand gateway that leads into the main courtyard. The façade of the Gurduwara is adorned with beautiful carved arch and domes; it highlights a mixture of Mughal and Sikh architectural style. The main prayer hall is known as the Diwan Hall, is an area where all pilgrims gathers for prayers and recitations.
